Haifa's hotels sit in five clusters, each with a different feel. The Haifa Tourism Association keeps a list of hotels (opens in a new tab); the municipality's own open-data hotel list dates from 2020 and is out of date.
Carmel Center (top of the mountain)
Big and mid-size hotels along HaNassi Blvd and Yefe Nof St: Dan Carmel, Dan Panorama (21 storeys), Nof, Crowne Plaza (100 rooms), the family-run Beth Shalom and the Carmella boutique hotel. You are next to the zoo, Gan HaEm, the Louis Promenade, the Tikotin museum and the upper Carmelit station, with restaurants on HaNassi Blvd. Good for views; the Carmelit takes you down to Hadar and Downtown, except on Shabbat.
German Colony
Boutique hotels in and around restored Templer buildings on Ben Gurion Blvd, below the Baha'i Gardens: the Colony (1905 building, 40 rooms), Botanica (adults 16+), Golden Crown Haifa, Templers, the adults-only Schumacher, SOL (17 rooms) and City Port, about 50 m from the gardens' lower entrance. Restaurants are on the doorstep and HaShmona station is walkable. The Christian Bethel Hostel is nearby on HaGefen St.
Downtown and Hadar
The budget-friendly end: Hotel 1926 and DovrInn apartments in the Downtown bar quarter, Diana apartments by the port, the Port Inn on Jaffa Rd, and in Hadar the Satori, Haifa Tower, Eden (family-run since the 1930s) and Loui Talpiot by the market. Close to HaShmona station, the Carmelit and the Akko ferry; Downtown is lively at night.
Bat Galim (by the sea)
Domus Bat Galim and the Bat Galim Boutique Hotel, two minutes from the beach. The promenade, the cable car to Stella Maris and Bat Galim station are all close.
Hof HaCarmel (south shore)
Leonardo Plaza right on Hof HaCarmel beach, La Cappella (30 rooms) near Sammy Ofer Stadium and the Congress Center, the Garden Hotel in the Congress Center compound and the HI Haifa youth hostel on the Carmel ridge. The Hof HaCarmel train station and central bus station are in this part of the city.
Outside the city
The Carmel Forest Spa Resort (Isrotel, 126 rooms) and the Beit Oren kibbutz hotel are in the Carmel forest outside the city.
Short-term rentals
Apartment rentals and aparthotels are common in Downtown and Hadar (1926, DovrInn, Diana). The site builds Airbnb and Booking search links per neighbourhood; check the licence and cancellation terms with the host.
Tips
- Trains and the Carmelit stop on Shabbat, although some buses run; if you arrive on a Friday, plan the last stretch.
- Prices, room counts and age limits change; confirm on the hotel's own site.
